A PCC student was arrested on misdemeanor charges after allegedly brandishing a knife in the library on Wednesday, April 26, according to the PCC Courier newspaper.
The student, identified as Zhuowei Liao, age 21, was reportedly threatening a group of students and library staff when PCC Campus Police responded to the scene. Liao was arrested without incident and booked into the Pasadena jail where he was held on a $25,000 bond, according to the Courier.
According to a statement from the Pasadena Police Department, Liao was allegedly a known harasser of students on campus.
“This has been a continuous problem with this person,” said Pasadena Police Department Officer Monica Cuellar is reported to have told the Courier.
PCC Spokesperson Alex Boekelheide said that Liao will be disciplined through PCC’s Student Discipline Process.
“The exact nature of the outcome is currently unknown due to this being an ongoing investigation,” Boekelheide is quoted as having said.
