At Pasadena City College, the Holiday Spirit doesn’t stop at the end of December.
For the Spring Semester, which starts Jan. 9, PCC students will yet again receive a range of benefits that will help them register and enroll in classes.
As a starting point, students in classes with a materials fee – such as art classes or automotive courses – will have those fees automatically waived. This means that expensive course materials will be provided free of charge to students in these classes.
To add to that, the college is again granting all students a $200 voucher for books and supplies at the PCC Bookstore. With many courses using free digital textbooks, this extra bookstore cash will help students in an era of increasing living costs.
Moreover, PCC is waiving all parking fees for students in the Spring 2023 semester as well. Students commuting to campus must still register their vehicles, but there is no charge for students to park on PCC lots in the spring.
“These measures are a small cost for us to bear as we strive to serve our students,” said Erika Endrijonas, PCC’s superintendent/president. “We want to do all that we can to help our students enroll, attend, and succeed in their courses this spring.”
Funding for the cost-saving measures comes from Federal and state dollars related to COVID-19 pandemic relief. Since March 2020, PCC has allocated more than $100 million in such funds to students and college resources intended to ease the impacts of the unprecedented global health emergency.
Enrollment for Spring is now open. Students of all abilities and backgrounds are encouraged to visit pasadena.edu/breakbarriers to learn more about how PCC can help our area’s students break barriers and achieve their goals.
