Pasadena City College has announced the hiring of Mark Gutierrez as its new director of Enterprise Applications Services in the Information Technology Services Department for the college. In this capacity, Gutierrez will oversee the management and leadership of all Administrative Information System (AIS) – or “LancerPoint” – applications, including a new AIS solution encompassing all administrative, instructional, and student services operations of the college. He will begin in his capacity on April 1.

“Mark comes to us with a wealth of experience at our sister college, Rio Hondo College, where he directed that college’s transition to a new AIS,” said PCC President Dr. Mark Rocha. “Mark not only has all the practical know-how, but he also is an effective leader who understands the relationship of information technology to faculty support and student success.”

Gutierrez comes to PCC with more than 30 years of experience in information technology. Most recently, he was the senior systems analyst at Rio Hondo College, where he served as team leader during the implementation of the school’s Administrative Information System. He will also co-chair the LancerPoint Committee, which oversees all non-instructional technologies that interface with LancerPoint.

“I am thrilled to join the PCC family and look forward to helping the college bring LancerPoint online, giving PCC students greater access to education,” Gutierrez said. “It will provide students with a modern registration experience and degree or certificate completion planning, in addition to many other college services like email and eLearning.”

LancerPoint is a system that improves services to students, meets data requirements for accountability standards, and makes college and student processes more efficient.

LancerPoint maximizes the efficient flow of information between PCC’s main functions, including human resources, fiscal, student records and registration systems, among others. LancerPoint operates in real time, shares access to one database to prevent redundant data and multiple data entry, shares a common look and feel for ease of use, and provides access to the data as authorized without special data retrieval processes. The portal will feature single sign-on (no more logging into several different applications) and resources specific to each PCC audience (student, staff, faculty, etc.).

“Mark joins a team of dedicated and skilled Information Technology Services staff and countless other staff, managers, and faculty colleagues leading the way for a much improved educational and support services experience for our students, and the communities we serve,” said Bob Miller, assistant superintendent for Business and College Services.
