Pasadena City College won the Program of the Year Award from the National Tutoring Association.
Director of the Learning Assistance Center (LAC), John Wood, accepted the NTA 2012 Award of Excellence for a two-year college at the annual conference in Scottsdale, Arizona on March 19.
NTA President Lynn Giese presented Pasadena City College the Program of the Year plaque, saying “Pasadena City College has trained and certified more tutors than any other college or community college in our membership … and (this award is presented) for continued growth, dedication to certification, and longevity with the NTA…”
This award is a proud accomplishment for the many tutoring programs across the campus that work cooperatively to support student success. Every fall and spring semester, staff and faculty from a wide variety of instructional and student service areas participate in our comprehensive tutor training program. In fall 2011, PCC surpassed 1,000 student tutors being certificated at the advanced level.
The entire tutoring program at PCC is grateful to the NTA for this illustrious award and for the guidance and support that organization provides across the country.
