Pasadena Now has learned that a pedestrian was injured this past weekend after he was struck by a police cruiser.
According to Chief Communications Officer Lisa Derderian,
on Sunday, August 30, at approximately 10 p.m., a Pasadena Police marked vehicle struck an adult pedestrian in a lane of traffic near Marengo Avenue and Washington Boulevard.
The officer immediately stopped and rendered aid.
The pedestrian was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer was not injured.
Video of the incident began showing up on social media Wednesday afternoon. That clip shows a man standing in the street and then turning towards the curb as the police cruiser strikes him, knocking him into the air and leaving him motionless in the street.
“The Pasadena Police Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) was immediately dispatched and is conducting a thorough investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Pasadena Police Department at 626-744-4241,” said Pasadena Police Chief Gene Harris.
