Joan Fauvre, executive director of the Pasadena Educational Foundation, has announced her plan to retire on December 31.

“My 16 years as the executive director and 10 prior years as a board member have been a wonderful journey,” Fauvre says.  “During this time I have seen amazing growth and success in the foundation and in our schools.  Working with the PUSD students, teachers, principals, staff and administrators and, of course, my own remarkable staff and board have kept me inspired and engaged in this work all these years.”

Founded in 1971, the foundation is the oldest education foundation in California.  In the past 15 years, the foundation has generated $90 million for PUSD students, teachers and principals.  These funds have provided computers, after school programs, teacher training, science and math supplies, summer enrichment, field trips, technology, health care, college scholarships, musical instruments, arts programs, and more.  In the year now ending, the foundation has raised a record $11 million-plus from individual, business, foundation and government sources.

“For 26 years Joan has been an integral part of PEF’s work and its mission to support our public schools,” says George Brumder, the foundation’s board president.  “She has done a marvelous job, and she will be greatly missed.  We thank Joan for her exceptional leadership and outstanding contribution to PEF, our public schools and the entire community, and we wish her well. We’re on a solid footing, we have a modest but growing endowment, and a planned giving program is under way.  We will begin a search for a new executive director who will build on Joan’s legacy and continue making strides in support for our public schools.”
