Police Court Camp Pendleton Marines and Sailors for Law Enforcement Careers

The Pasadena Police Department sent recruiters to a hiring fair at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in early June to discuss law enforcement careers with Marines and Sailors transitioning from military service or exploring future career opportunities, the city said.

Members of the department’s recruitment team took part from June 3 to 5, according to the City of Pasadena, meeting with active-duty service members, veterans, and military families at the First Responders Hiring Event. Throughout what the city described as a three-day event, recruiters discussed the department’s hiring process, specialized assignments, and professional-development opportunities.

The department says veterans bring leadership, discipline, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that translate well to policing. At the booth, recruiters aimed to show how that military experience can carry into a law enforcement career, the city said.

Two officers from the recruitment team, Alejandro Loeza and Marshon Mcintosh, were photographed speaking with a U.S. Marine at the event, according to the city.

The First Responders Hiring Event is organized by Marine Corps Community Services, the Marine Corps’ support arm at Camp Pendleton, and is held at the base’s Pacific Views Event Center, according to the organizer, which describes it as an annual hiring event. It draws federal, state, and city law enforcement and public-safety agencies and is open to active-duty members, veterans, retirees, military spouses, eligible family members, and Defense Department civilian employees. The Pasadena department is among the listed participating agencies.

Camp Pendleton, in San Diego County, sits roughly 90 miles south of Pasadena, where departing personnel can meet directly with hiring agencies.

For veterans who pursue a Pasadena badge, the city adds three points to the qualifying score of applicants who served at least one year of active duty and provide proof of an honorable discharge, according to the department’s posted hiring requirements.

The department says veterans, active-duty service members, and members of the Reserve or National Guard who want to learn about a police career can visit its recruitment site at cityofpasadena.net/police/join/. The Camp Pendleton appearance is one stop in the department’s continuing recruitment of the military community, a group the city says it is committed to supporting as service members move from military to civilian careers.
