Police Find 2 Loaded Ghost Guns, Arrest 2 Suspects in 2 Incidents Over 2 Hours

Pasadena police arrested two men in two hours in two separate incidents when they allegedly found loaded ‘ghost guns’ with extended magazines in vehicles late Saturday and early Sunday.

The first incident occurred Saturday night when residents called police at 11:21 p.m. to report a disturbance that appeared to be a man and woman fighting in the 1100 block of Summit Ave. Before officers arrived, a car was seen speeding from the scene.

Officers found and stopped the car, according to Lt. Marcia Taglioretti. The driver was unlicensed, she said.

During a search of the car, officers found an unserialized ghost gun and an extended magazine containing 22 rounds, Taglioretti said. A 50-year-old man from Chino was arrested.

About two hours later at 1:29 a.m., officers pulled over a car containing three men near the intersection of Claremont Street and Fair Oaks Avenue, Taglioretti said. One of the men was on probation, the second was on parole, and the third initially gave officers a false name, she said.

A search of the car by the officers allegedly resulted in the discovery of an unserialized nine-millimeter ghost gun with an extended magazine, in the back seat area near the man who had provided false identification, Taglioretti said.

The man, later identified as David Kim, 24, of Los Angeles, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for a parole violation, was arrested for suspicion of illegal firearms possession, Taglioretti said.

Kim remains jailed in the Sheriff’s Dept. Central Jail in Los Angeles on a no-bail hold.
