A 49-year-old Pasadena man was stabbed multiple times early Sunday morning following a verbal argument with another homeless individual near Arroyo Parkway and Fillmore Street, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Monica Cuellar.

Cuellar said officers were notified at 8:34 a.m. on Feb. 15 after the victim checked himself into a local hospital reporting stab wounds. The man told police he had been walking in the area around 3:15 a.m. when he was confronted by the suspect. After an argument, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim approximately five times, Cuellar said.

Four of the wounds were superficial, but one puncture wound to the victim’s back required two staples, Cuellar said. The suspect fled westbound across train tracks and north on Raymond Avenue, out of sight.

The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic man, 30 to 35 years old, about 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. No clothing description was available, and the victim said he had met the suspect about a year ago but did not know his name, Cuellar said.

A portion of the incident was captured on video surveillance, and the investigation remains ongoing, according to Cuellar.
