The Pasadena Police Department will present information about its Community Police Academy at the San Gabriel Valley “626” Mental Health & Addiction Treatment Professional’s Networking Coffee on June 27. The event, hosted by Casa Treatment Center for Women, aims to foster collaboration between law enforcement and mental health professionals.
The networking coffee, scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 160 North El Molino Avenue, will bring together professionals from the San Gabriel Valley to network, share resources, and learn about the police department’s initiative. The Community Police Academy provides community and civic leaders with an inside look at the internal workings of the department, building partnerships and solving problems through education on various topics.
The collaboration seeks to enhance community relations and provide professionals with valuable insights into local law enforcement practices, ultimately fostering a more integrated approach to addressing mental health and addiction issues in the community.
The eight-week program covers subjects such as community policing, police communication, criminal law, street crime enforcement, firearms training, and the citizen complaint process. While not intended to train participants to become police officers, the academy aims to promote greater awareness and understanding of law enforcement’s role in the community.
Casa Treatment Center for Women, a specialized facility dedicated to helping women recover from substance abuse disorders and addiction, will host the event. For more information, interested parties can contact Magdalena Prado at (855) 954-2770.
