The U.S. Postal Service this week announced recommended mailing and shipping deadlines for the holiday season, providing customers with specific send-by dates for expected delivery before December 25. The Washington-based announcement provides guidance to help customers plan their holiday shipping during the busy season.
The Postal Service established different deadlines based on shipping destinations and service levels.
For the contiguous United States, it said, customers using USPS Ground Advantage service and First-Class Mail should send packages by December 17, while Priority Mail extends the deadline to December 18 and Priority Mail Express to December 20.
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories face tighter deadlines. Ground Advantage service requires ship.m.ent by December 16, one day earlier than the lower 48 states, while First-Class Mail, Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express maintain December 17, 18 and 20 deadlines respectively.
The Postal Service recommends that customers sending packages to military or international addresses visit the USPS holiday shipping page for a complete list of suggested dates. During the holiday season, customers should always plan to mail and ship packages early to ensure arrival by December 25.
Customers can access comprehensive preparation resources through multiple channels. The Postal Service provides tips on mailing and shipping preparation, information about ordering free shipping supplies, packaging guidelines including restricted and prohibited item information, and Post Office location hours at usps.com or the USPS YouTube channel.Pasadena Main Post Office
