A pretrial hearing is scheduled Monday for Enrique Antonio Real, a 19-year-old Baldwin Park resident charged with murdering Christopher Flores in a CVS parking lot.
Real is to appear in Dept. F of the Pasadena Courthouse at 300 E. Walnut Street for a continued legal proceeding in the case. He is accused of fatally stabbing Flores, 30, of Altadena, on September 11 in the parking lot of a CVS pharmacy at 20 E. Orange Grove Boulevard.
According to Pasadena Police Department Lt. Jesse Carrillo, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim and suspect knew each other, though the precise motive requires further follow-up by detectives.
Witnesses reported seeing Real walking alongside Flores before allegedly stabbing him multiple times. Multiple witnesses called police after reportedly seeing the attack. Officers responded to calls in the 100 block of East Orange Grove Boulevard and were directed through an alley where the suspect was last seen running.
Real was arrested shortly after the incident, found not far from the crime scene. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office filed a murder charge against Real on September 16. His bail was set at $2,020,000.
Investigators allegedly recovered a bloodied knife and other evidence from the scene. Flores was found bleeding profusely on the ground and was later pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital.
The case has progressed through multiple court appearances, including previous pretrial hearings scheduled for dates such as December 16.
The hearing is scheduled for Monday at 8:30 a.m. in the Pasadena Courthouse.
