A pretrial hearing is set for Thursday, Jan. 25 in the Pasadena Courthouse for Alexis Ibarra, a 25-year-old Pasadena resident charged with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy and the wounding of a 20-year-old man in a suspected gang-related incident.
The shooting, which took place on January 18, 2022, resulted in the death of Damian Issak Montoya, a passenger in a white Toyota, and left the vehicle’s driver, a 20-year-old man from West Covina, injured.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Los Robles Avenue and Eldora Road in Northwest Pasadena.
After the shooting, the driver of the car drove north on Los Robles, where by chance he encountered Pasadena Fire Dept. personnel on an unrelated call and asked for help for the victim, who was in the front seat of the driver’s white Toyota.
Ibarra was arrested the following day in the 600 block of Mar Vista Ave., where detectives allegedly discovered a firearm and other evidence linking him to the crime. He was subsequently charged with murder and attempted murder, with bail set at $4 million.
The charges against Ibarra include allegations that Ibarra personally used a handgun during the crime.
Ibarra pleaded not guilty to all charges, which comprise one count of murder for Montoya’s death and one count of attempted murder for the driver’s injuries.
