Julie Miller, a 20-year veteran of the Professional Child Development Associates (PCDA), has been named the organization’s new Executive Director, effective Oct. 1. The announcement came from Anne Perry, Board Chair of PCDA, in a letter to the organization’s supporters.

Miller’s appointment follows a comprehensive search process conducted by PCDA’s Board of Directors. She brings extensive experience to the role, having served in various capacities within the organization since joining as an occupational therapist two decades ago.

“Julie has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to our mission,” Perry stated in the letter. Miller’s career at PCDA includes roles as department head of the Occupational Therapy and Feeding Programs and, most recently, as Clinical Director, a position she assumed in 2019.

During her tenure, Miller played a crucial role in PCDA’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her leadership during this challenging period was cited as a key factor in her selection for the Executive Director position.

Perry emphasized that Miller “lives the mission of PCDA,” which is “to create a community that builds on strengths and relationships to prepare young people with Autism and developmental disabilities for a future in which they are empowered, fulfilled, and feel the security of belonging.”

As Executive Director, Miller plans to prioritize several initiatives. These include strengthening community partnerships, expanding funding for client services, and increasing opportunities for neurodiverse individuals within the organization.

The Board expressed confidence in Miller’s ability to guide PCDA towards greater success. Her deep knowledge of the organization and the community it serves were highlighted as valuable assets for her new role.

PCDA’s Board and Miller have committed to ensuring the organization reflects the diversity of its community. This aligns with their goal of creating an inclusive environment for those they serve.

The organization plans to host several events, including house parties and open houses, to introduce Miller in her new capacity. These gatherings will provide opportunities for supporters to connect with the incoming Executive Director. Perry noted, “Stay tuned for details.”
