The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) is gearing up for its annual College Night, aimed at helping students and their families navigate the college search and planning process.
Hosted by PUSD’s College & Career Academies department in partnership with the Pasadena Educational Foundation and College Access Plan, the event will take place at the Pasadena Civic Center on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m.
College Night offers students from all grade levels an opportunity to explore various college programs and scholarship opportunities. Freshmen and sophomores can jumpstart their college search, while juniors can use the event to narrow down their college choices. Seniors are encouraged to finalize their college selection and receive guidance on the application process.
“PUSD College Night is an opportunity for PUSD to expose students to the opportunities after high school,” Dr. Kristina Turley, Coordinator of PUSD’s College and Career Academies department, said. “We want students in PUSD and the surrounding area to have a chance to ask questions and hear from colleges that are both local and out of state.
PUSD has been hosting a College Night event for the last 10 years, with over 10,000 students having attended. This year, more than 100 colleges and universities will be represented, providing students with a diverse range of options.
Representatives from renowned institutions, including Ivy League schools and California State University and University of California campuses, will be available to answer questions and provide valuable insights into college life.
“This year we will not feature any workshops,” Dr. Turley explained. “Students will have more opportunities to speak to college reps and ask any questions they might have to high school counselors who are present.”
The event is open to the entire community, allowing students and their families to access vital resources and gain a better understanding of the college application process, campus environment, course offerings, and student activities.
PUSD and the Pasadena Education Network have posted some suggested questions that students attending College Night may ask college representatives. Visit https://www.pusd.us/Page/6730 for more information.
The Pasadena Convention Center is located at 300 E. Green Street. Admission to the event is free.
