The first weekend of March is likely to be a wet one, with forecasters projecting light showers on Saturday before more substantial rainfall arrives Sunday.
The National Weather Service predicts a 20 percent chance of showers before 10 a.m. Saturday, with mostly cloudy conditions and temperatures reaching near 64 degrees Fahrenheit. Some breaks in cloud cover might occur Saturday afternoon and evening. Precipitation chances increase to 30 percent Saturday night after 10 p.m., with nighttime lows around 50 degrees.
“Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible Saturday night,” according to the National Weather Service forecast. This aligns with Time and Date’s extended forecast predicting approximately 0.02 inches of rainfall.
Sunday brings a more significant chance of rain, with the weather service forecasting a 60 percent probability of showers throughout the day. Accumulation between a tenth and quarter of an inch is expected, with cloudy conditions and temperatures dropping to around 57 degrees.
“South wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon” with possible gusts “as high as 20 mph” are expected Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Possible isolated thunderstorms due to a cold air mass may also develop.
Sunday evening continues the wet pattern, with the National Weather Service predicting “showers likely, mainly before 10 p.m., then a chance of rain after 4 a.m.” with precipitation chances remaining at 60%. Nighttime temperatures will drop to around 42-45 degrees Fahrenheit.
The weekend weather pattern reflects a developing storm system moving through the area, with precipitation intensifying as the weekend progresses.
Looking ahead, forecasters predict Pasadena will see a drying trend with lessening winds on Tuesday before another storm system brings moderate rainfall Wednesday and Thursday, with estimated accumulations between 0.25 and 0.5 inches and possible isolated thunderstorms.
By Friday and into next weekend, a warming and drying trend is expected, with temperatures possibly reaching the low 80s by Saturday.
