Pasadena residents are advised that two food companies in Missouri have recalled frozen chicken strips and blended meat and poultry smoked sausage products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, such as plastic and bone fragments, according to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.
If you have recently bought these types of products, be sure to check the labels.
Conagra Brands, Inc, a Marshall, Mo. establishment, is recalling approximately 245,366 pounds of frozen chicken strips entree products that may contain pieces of plastic, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The recall was prompted by a consumer complaint of plastic in the chicken strip portion of the product, which resulted in an injury.
The recalled products are 8.9-oz. cartons labeled “BANQUET CHICKEN STRIPS MEAL” with “best if used by” dates of “DEC 11 2024,” “JAN 01 2025,” or “JAN 07 2025” and lot numbers 5009317120, 5009319220, or 5009319820 located on the side of the carton.
The products bear establishment number “EST. P-9” printed on the side of the carton. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide and were also sold online, according to the FSIS.
Meanwhile, Hillshire Brands Company, a St. Joseph, Mo. establishment, is recalling approximately 15,876 pounds of blended meat and poultry smoked sausage products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically bone fragments, the FSIS announced.
The recalled products are 14-oz. cryovac packages containing one rope of “HILLSHIRE FARM SMOKED SAUSAGE MADE WITH PORK, TURKEY, BEEF” with lot codes in the form of the establishment number, line number and time of production: “EST. 756A 20 19:00:00 through 21:59:59 and EST. 756A 21 19:00:00 through 21:59:59” and “use by” date of “Nov 11 23” printed on the front of the package.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 756A” printed on the front of the package. These items were shipped to retail stores in California, Maryland, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, the FSIS announcement said.
The FSIS said it has received no additional reports of injury or illness from consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
The agency said it is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers. If you have purchased these products, please do not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.
