Regal Cinemas and the Regal Foundation are strengthening food security efforts in Pasadena through a donation to nonprofit Friends In Deed. The contribution, made through their Summer Round Up campaign, aims to support the nonprofit’s extensive community programs, including its Food Pantry which has been operating for over 40 years and serves an average of 440 families per week with fresh produce, canned goods, and meats.
“Through their Summer Round Up campaign, our local Regal Paseo Theatre chose to support Friends In Deed with a generous donation. We’re grateful for their commitment to uplifting our community!” Friends In Deed responded.
The donation arrives at a important moment in time, as Friends In Deed experiences increased pressure on its services.
For over 125 years — nearly as long as the Rose Parade has been celebrated — the organization has operated multiple community support programs, including The Women’s Room, a day shelter for homeless women, and an eviction prevention program.
The funding builds on earlier support received earlier in November 2024, including a $10,000 grant to address rising demands for food and housing assistance.
City officials, including Pasadena Housing Director William Huang, recognize Friends In Deed as an essential part of the community fabric.
Beyond its Food Pantry operations, Friends In Deed provides bad weather supplies during winter months and operates street outreach and housing assistance programs. The organization’s comprehensive approach helps individuals and families transform their lives with dignity. Many past clients return as volunteers, creating a sense of community and mutual support.
Through these various initiatives, Friends In Deed contributes to making Pasadena a safer, healthier, and more beautiful city for everyone. This latest support from the Regal Foundation enables Friends In Deed to continue addressing critical needs in food security and homelessness prevention throughout the Pasadena community.
