The Pasadena Human Resources Department will provide an update on the search for a Director to lead the newly established Rent Stabilization Department during a meeting of the Pasadena Rental Housing Board on Wednesday.

The search is a critical initiative in the city’s efforts to enhance housing stability. Tiffany Jacobs Quinn, HR Director, will present the update.

According to an outline of the upcoming presentation, the Human Resources Department is partnering with an executive search firm, WBCP, Inc., to identify a qualified candidate to head the new department.

WBCP Inc. is based in Rouge River, Oregon and is led by Wendi Brown, Senior Recruiter and founder. The company has a track record of excellence engaging with boards as primary stakeholders and is involved in another Rent Stabilization Manager search.

Notably, WBCP, Inc. offers an 18-month placement guarantee and boasts success in attracting diverse applicant pools.

The timeline for the executive search includes key milestones such as opening of the recruitment process on March 18 and the closing on April 15, shortlisting meetings, structured interviews conducted by the Executive Search Ad Hoc, and final candidate interviews with the City Manager.

The anticipated start date for the appointed Director is in the beginning of June.

The Human Resources Department is recommending a structured interview panel that will ensure fairness and impartiality. Standardized questions will be posed to each candidate, enabling evaluators to rank them objectively. The process also adheres to Brown Act considerations, in order to ensure transparency and compliance with legal requirements.

Up to five members of the Pasadena Rental Housing Board may be on the interview panel, according to the recommendation.
