Repairs to Holly Street Completed, Roadway Reopens After Weeks-Long Closure

Published on Saturday, April 15, 2023 | 5:09 am

The Holly Street Bridge reopened to traffic in both directions late Friday afternoon, following weeks of partial and then full closure for roadway repairs caused by recent rains.

The bridge roadway was initially partially closed on Feb. 27 after heavy rains threatened the stability of the slope embankment and extensively damaged a curb, gutter, pavement, guardrail and chain link fence.

Holly Street was closed for two weeks in April for the final repair work. The closure was in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and affected traffic heading towards Arroyo Dr. and Linda Vista Ave.

Drivers were urged to use alternate routes and allow extra time for their commutes.

The Holly Street Bridge is a major thoroughfare in Pasadena. It connects the Arroyo Seco neighborhood to the Linda Vista neighborhood. The bridge is also a popular spot for pedestrians and cyclists.
