A section of Fair Oaks Avenue near Huntington Hospital will undergo overnight closures this week as Turner Construction crews install a new sewer service for a USC Keck medical building under construction at 590 South Fair Oaks Avenue.

The construction company will implement full street closures between Palmetto Drive and Congress Street from Nov. 6 through 9, running nightly from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., blocking all through traffic.

The closures, authorized by City Public Works permits, are designed to safely perform the permitted work and minimize impacts to the traveling public.

Existing bus stops along Fair Oaks Avenue from Palmetto Drive to Congress Street will temporarily close during the overnight work hours, with closures coordinated with affected transit agencies.

Burger King restaurant access will remain available until 11 p.m. each night. All properties affected by the closures along Fair Oaks Avenue have been notified, including Huntington Hospital.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, including St. John Avenue, Pasadena Avenue, Raymond Avenue, Bellevue Drive, Bellefontaine Street, California Boulevard, and Del Mar Boulevard. Changeable message signs will be set up in advance to alert drivers to the closures.
