A robbery outside a Pasadena supply store escalated into a dangerous armed confrontation Saturday afternoon, police said.

At about 2:31 p.m., a man was loading groceries into his vehicle at Restaurant Depot, located near the 100 block of North San Gabriel Boulevard, when a black Jeep Cherokee pulled up beside him. According to Pasadena Police Lt. Sam De Sylva, a woman got out of the Jeep and reached into the victim’s car, stealing a black satchel containing cash and personal belongings.

When the victim attempted to retrieve the stolen property, three African American men exited the vehicle and pointed black handguns at him, De Sylva said. The victim retreated and the suspects fled northbound on San Gabriel Boulevard. The suspect vehicle has not been located.

Police described the female suspect as about 25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with curly black hair. The three male suspects, also approximately 25 years old, were each reportedly armed.

Officers canvassed the area following the incident but were unable to locate the suspects or the vehicle, De Sylva confirmed.
