Roof Replacements Completed at Four City Facilities

Pasadena has completed roof replacement projects at Fire Station 36, Santa Catalina Branch Library, Lamanda Park Branch Library and Hastings Branch Library, improving the long?term reliability and resilience of the facilities, according to the city.

The work addressed aging roofing systems identified in the 2018 Facility Condition Assessment and is part of Public Works’ ongoing effort to preserve and modernize municipal infrastructure. Construction was completed on June 5.

Crews removed and replaced deteriorated roofing materials, repaired roof decking where needed, and installed new roofing systems designed to improve weather protection, reduce maintenance needs and extend each building’s useful life.

At Hastings Branch Library, the project also included the replacement of wood shake roofing materials to maintain the building’s existing architectural character. The new roofing systems were also designed with future solar installations in mind, incorporating infrastructure considerations that will support the City’s long-term sustainability and renewable energy goals.

The project is part of the City’s broader commitment to maintaining safe, functional, and sustainable public facilities while protecting the community’s investment in municipal assets. By renewing critical building infrastructure and preparing these facilities for future solar energy improvements, the City continues to advance its goals of environmental stewardship, operational resilience, and responsible long-term asset management.
