The iconic Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena has been chosen as one of 12 venues to host matches for the expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
The Rose Bowl joins a prestigious list of stadiums across the country, including venues in New York, Atlanta, Miami, and Seattle.
“Football is the most popular sport on the planet, and in 2025 a new era for club football will kick off when FIFA stages the greatest, most inclusive and merit-based global club competition right here in the United States,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The final match will be held on July 13, 2025, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
This expanded format represents a major shift from previous editions of the Club World Cup. It will bring together top clubs from various continents, including powerhouses from Europe and South America, as well as leading teams from Africa, Asia, and North America. Of the 32 teams, two are yet to be confirmed: one from South America and one representing the host country.
The selection of the Rose Bowl highlights Pasadena’s continued importance in the world of soccer. The stadium’s rich history, which includes hosting matches in the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup final, made it an attractive choice for organizers.
While the specific matches to be played at the Rose Bowl have not yet been announced, local fans can anticipate seeing some of the world’s best players and most renowned clubs in action. The tournament’s draw is set for December, with the full match schedule to be released shortly after. The 32 teams will be divided into eight groups of four.
FIFA’s decision to bring this prestigious event to Pasadena is expected to have a significant economic impact on the city, drawing soccer fans from around the world and showcasing Pasadena on a global stage.
Simultaneously with the venue selections, FIFA announced a new four-year partnership with Global Citizen to mobilize football fans globally to help end extreme poverty and provide access to education for millions of children.
