The Pasadena-based Rose Bowl Institute will hold its eighth annual Women’s Empowerment Symposium online Nov. 3 through 5, a free three-day program featuring UCLA women’s basketball coach Cori Close and former Air Force Thunderbirds pilot Michelle Curran, the Institute announced in a news release Tuesday.

The program will bring together women from sport, business, media, education and public service with young leaders from around the world for conversations about what shapes how they lead, the Institute said.

Day One focuses on sportsmanship, and Day Two on leadership, including navigating pressure, change, setbacks and opportunity. The final day turns to citizenship and how women use their talents in service of others and their communities, the Institute said.

FOX Sports host Jenny Taft will guide the conversations with Jessica Mendoza, a two-time Olympic softball medalist and sports analyst, and sports broadcaster Scarlen Martinez.

Close led UCLA to its first NCAA women’s basketball championship. Curran, a former fighter pilot, was the second woman to serve as lead solo pilot for the Thunderbirds and wrote “The Flipside.” The speakers will share their experiences through conversations and keynote presentations, the Institute said.

“Year after year, the Women’s Empowerment Symposium continues to remind us of the incredible impact that can happen when women come together to share their stories, experiences, and lessons learned,” said Lauren Hall, programs director for the Rose Bowl Institute.

The Rose Bowl Institute’s 8th Annual Women’s Empowerment Symposium takes place Tuesday, Nov. 3, through Thursday, Nov. 5, on the Institute’s virtual platform, and sessions will be available on the Institute’s website afterward. Admission is free, and registration is through the Institute. For more, email rosebowlinstitute@rosebowlstadium.com or visit rosebowlinstitute.org.
