Rose Bowl Operating Company Seeks City Council Approval for Additional Concerts in 2025

The Rose Bowl Operating Company is recommending that the Pasadena City Council approve four major concerts planned for 2025, potentially exceeding the city’s limit on displacement events for the year. This follows the RBOC’s recent ask to add three soccer matches to its events lineup.

The Rose Bowl Operating Company proposes hosting one concert each in May and June, and August and September.

The concerts would be promoted by Live Nation, and each event is expected to attract around 60,000 attendees.

If approved, these concerts would be the 22nd through 25th displacement events of the year.

Under the Arroyo Seco Public Lands Ordinance, Pasadena limits displacement events at the Rose Bowl to 15 per year unless granted special permission by the City Council.

A displacement event is defined as any gathering with an anticipated attendance of 20,000 or more people.

The first 21 events scheduled for 2025 include six UCLA football games, the Rose Bowl Game, ten music festivals, three FIFA soccer matches, and one Soccer United Marketing match.

According to the Rose Bowl Operating Company’s recommendation, the concerts are expected to generate significant publicity for both the Rose Bowl and Pasadena, reinforcing the venue’s reputation as a premier destination.

Each concert is projected to generate over $500,000 for the Rose Bowl Operating Company, with additional positive economic impacts for Pasadena through sales and bed taxes.

The Rose Bowl Operating Company plans to coordinate with the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department, and the Pasadena Police Department to minimize displacement of other Arroyo Seco activities and ensure minimal disruption to recreational events.

Measures will be implemented to mitigate adverse effects on surrounding neighborhoods, with a focus on maintaining harmony with local residents.
