San Marino Motor Classic Raises Over $400,000 For Charity

Annual automobile showcase features award-winning classic cars and weekend of events

The 14th annual San Marino Motor Classic raised over $400,000 for local charities during its weekend of events on August 23-24 at Lacy Park.

The nonprofit organization hosted thousands of spectators who viewed some of the world’s finest classic cars at the prestigious Concours d’Elegance.

“A fabulous weekend was had by all who attended the 14th annual San Marino Motor Classic in Lacy Park on August 24, ending the summer in style by joining us for this classy Classic weekend of events,” said Aaron Weiss, the event’s founder and organizer.

The event featured a competition where a 1917 Packard Runabout owned by Linda and Robert Mollno of San Marino won “Best In Show Pre-War,” while the “Best In Show Post War” award was presented to a 1952 Chrysler Ghia owned by Mark Hyman from St. Louis, MO.

The weekend festivities began on Saturday, August 23 with the elegant Symphony of Cars Gala and the Automotive Fine Arts Society exhibit.

The sold-out Gala, which supports the Cancer Support Community of San Gabriel Valley, attracted over 675 guests who enjoyed an open bar, gourmet dinner, live music, and a presentation of 20 classic cars.

Two generous attendees purchased tours of Jay Leno’s Garage during the event, with the proceeds going to support the  Cancer Support Community,

Art enthusiasts appreciated works by well-known artists at the AFAS exhibition and sale, while students from Art Center Transportation Design were present creating sketches of futuristic cars.

The Motor Classic was presented by RUSNAK Auto Group, with the Symphony of Cars Gala hosted by Hing Wa Lee Jewelers — David Lee and Galpin Aston Martin.

Wine was provided courtesy of Bill & Nancy Naeve — B Cellars Vineyards & Winery, and spirits were supplied by William Grant & Sons, Inc. Team Janice Lee Berkshire Hathaway hosted the Automotive Fine Arts Society exhibit.

Beneficiaries of the Motor Classic include the Pasadena Humane Society, Cancer Support Community of the Greater San Gabriel Valley, San Marino Rotary Charities, Give Mentor Love Foundation, Shriners Hospital for Children, and Rose Bowl Aquatic Center.

“The Motor Classic a nonprofit organization that raises and donates funds to Charities. A winning combination: a wonderful event that supports our community,” Weiss noted. “We are looking forward to next year’s event and invite everyone to become a Sponsor or Donor and help.”
