Santa Ana Winds Skip Pasadena, But Affect Fire Risk and Air Quality

Santa Ana winds whipped through much of Los Angeles County Friday but spared Pasadena, nonetheless pushing temperatures upward and raising concerns about possible wildfires and air quality.

Similar conditions were expected to continue through much of Saturday.

The South Coast AQMD has issued an air quality alert in South Coast Air Basin —  which includes Pasadena — due to increased particle pollution from blowing dust and ash. The air quality alert is in effect until 3 p.m. on Saturday.

A slight warm up each of the next few days will continue to bring above normal temperatures to most of the area through much of next week.

Today: Sunny, with a high near 80. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 50. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming north northeast in the evening.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 81. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming southwest in the morning.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming northeast in the evening.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 83. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 87.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 87.

Wednesday Night: Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 55.

Thursday: Patchy fog. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 84.
