Santa’s Not The Only One Flying Around Pasadena on Christmas Eve

The Pasadena Jaycees, a group of young professionals committed to community service, are bringing Christmas magic to life with Operation Santa by delivering toys to hundreds of local children on Christmas Eve.

The heartwarming event is a Pasadena tradition since 1934.

This year, the Jaycees are working to ensure over 1,000 children receive a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) toy.

The toys are delivered on Christmas Eve by hundreds of volunteers dressed as Santa, Mrs. Claus, and elves.

The volunteers hand-deliver the toys to the children’s homes. However, the organizers note that while every effort is made to deliver the toys on December 24, they cannot guarantee it due to circumstances beyond their control.

The process begins with children writing letters to Santa. These letters are then collected, and toys are purchased and donated in response. The toys are geared towards children in 8th grade and under.

The children with the greatest needs are given the highest priority, and families from all backgrounds and traditions are invited to participate, according to the Jaycees.

Volunteers sorted the toys on December 22 and 23. There was a Santa’s Workshop event on December 20 where volunteers can help with tasks like sewing repairs for Santa suits and inflating balls.
