Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education District 2 Trustee Jennifer Hall Lee announced she has received an endorsement from former Pasadena Mayor Terry Tornek in her bid for re-election, according to a statement from her campaign.

Incumbent Hall Lee, who currently serves as the Board’s Vice President, is seeking a second term in the upcoming November 5th election.

“As the former Mayor of our great City of Pasadena, I’m very aware of the challenges our PUSD schools face and the kind of leadership we need to deliver positive results for our students – that’s why I’m supporting Jennifer Hall Lee for reelection to the PUSD School Board,” Tornek said in a statement provided by Lee’s campaign.

The statement described Tornek as an “exceptional leader” whose mayoral tenure focused on issues such as affordable housing, transportation, and environmental sustainability.

Hall Lee has been a trustee since 2020 and since 2022 has chaired the PUSD Student Safety and School Climate Committee. Her campaign materials highlight her work on the District’s strategic plan, efforts to promote inclusive practices for students with special needs, and involvement in asset management for closed school sites.

If re-elected, Lee says she plans to focus on increasing graduation rates, implementing inclusive practices, expanding transitional kindergarten, addressing declining enrollment, and supporting workforce housing for PUSD employees.

She also aims to continue working with the City of Pasadena and Pasadena City College as a member of the CTE committee to create vocational education for PUSD students.

Her campaign website shows Lee completed a Master’s In Governance training twice for the California School Boards Association and CSBA Ethics Training. Her community involvement includes co-hosting the Women’s History Month Assembly and outreach efforts in Altadena.

The campaign also notes Lee’s role in the Superintendent’s Enrollment Committee and her work on Resolution 2703 supporting the inclusion of an Armenian checkbox in the 2030 Census.

PUSD serves students in Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre.
