A masked gunman opened fire on a driver at a major Pasadena intersection late Thursday, triggering a car crash but ultimately resulting in no injuries, officials said.
The shooting was reported just after 6 p.m. at Lake Avenue and Washington Boulevard, Pasadena police officials said.
An attacker got out of his own vehicle and began shooting at another driver, according to Lt. Maria Taglioretti.
The victim’s car then crashed into several other vehicles, she said. No one was found suffering from any gunshot wounds, and no injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
Police described the shooter as a Black man of about 6 feet tall, between 160 and 170 pounds, wearing a ski mask. He drove a black BMW X5 SUV, which was last seen heading south on Lake Avenue.
City officials asked the public to avoid the area as the investigation continued Thursday evening, but said there was no ongoing threat to public safety. The attacker was no longer believed to be in the area.
No further details were available as the investigation remained in its early stages.
