Over 200 mourners gathered Tuesday morning at Altadena’s Metropolitan Baptist Church for the memorial service of David Crosby, Jr., 32, who was fatally shot May 29 as he attended a party following a funeral.
Police have not gone on record with a motive for the Crosby shooting. No suspects have been publicly identified or arrested.
Tuesday’s service filled every pew inside the church. It was, at times, intensely emotional.
“I loved my Dad,” said Crosby’s teenaged son, David Crosby, III, through tears. “I loved my Dad, and they took him away.”
The eulogy was delivered by Pastor Dorothy Evans.
“Enough is enough!” Evans told the gathering. “The blood of our young sons and daughters is running in the streets.”
Friends and family members rose and spoke about Crosby, repeatedly calling him a “wonderful husband” and “loving father.” Crosby leaves behind two children and a fiancee, four brothers and twin sisters.
A poem written by Crosby’s mother, Dottie Cook, was published in the centerfold of the memorial service booklet.
