Simon Fraser, who served as the Associated Students president for Pasadena City College in the last year, was sworn in as the new student trustee at the June 5 Pasadena Area Community College District Board of Trustees meeting.

At 26 years old, Fraser has been involved in public service in one way or another since he was a kid.

“I think public service is one of the best things a person can do,” Fraser said.

A computer science major, Fraser is an advocate for the LGBTQ community. He was awarded in 2011 the Chuck Ward scholarship for leadership and service by the PCC Pride Organization. He also holds a part-time job as an intellectual property paralegal for a Pasadena-based IP law firm.

“As student trustee I think I can make the best impact for students at the policy-making level,” Fraser said.
