Spirit of Children presented Shriners Children’s Southern California’s child life department in Pasadena with a donation of $110,362 on February 25, 2026.
Spirit Halloween, through Spirit of Children, brings the fun and funding to our patients and families through their in-store and online campaign each fall – raising nearly $688,915 for Shriners Children’s Southern California since 2011.
Donations provided by Spirit of Children bring joy and smiles to young patients far beyond the Halloween season. Funding enables child life specialists to help kids and their families cope with the stress and challenges that come with their medical journey through non-medical treatment and healing play. Additionally, funding helps the child life department purchase sensory, educational and entertainment items including instruments for music therapy, and iPads and toys used for distraction during procedures.
Proceeds were collected at many local Southern California area Spirit Halloween stores, including the location on Lake Avenue in Pasadena, SpiritHalloween.com and from business partners. One hundred percent of local donations stay in the Southern California community.
In October, medical center staff and Spirit of Children volunteers joined forces to bring Halloween to the medical center with a costume celebration. Through the incredible generosity of Spirit Halloween, hundreds of costumes were donated to Shriners Children’s patients in Pasadena throughout the season.
“We are grateful to Spirit of Children for their generous contributions which allow our Child Life Specialists to prioritize emotional wellness for our young patients during challenging times,” said Valentina Martinez, Senior Director of Philanthropy. “They provide us with tools and resources for a costume celebration, but with continued funding and year-round support.”
