Starbucks Closes East Pasadena Location as Chain Shutters 250 Stores Nationwide

Starbucks has closed its Hastings Ranch location in East Pasadena, at 3429 E. Foothill Blvd. next to Best Buy, as the Seattle-based coffee chain closes 250 locations, about 1% of its 18,000 North American stores.

Mike Grams, Starbucks’ chief operating officer, said in a letter posted Thursday on the company’s website that the stores marked for closure were not showing the potential for the long-term financial performance the chain expects.

The East Pasadena store, in a busy shopping center, was popular with shoppers, nearby residents and area workers.

Starbucks continues to operate 18 other locations within Pasadena city limits.
