Drivers on State Route 134 between Pasadena and Eagle Rock will face nightly ramp closures starting Monday as part of a safety improvement project.
Caltrans (the California Department of Transportation) announced the closures will run from Monday, June 23, through Wednesday, June 25. All closures are scheduled during overnight hours to minimize traffic impacts.
On Monday and Tuesday nights, westbound SR-134 will see the San Rafael Avenue off-ramp closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. The Orange Grove Boulevard on-ramp in Pasadena will close from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Eastbound closures on the same nights include the San Rafael Avenue on-ramp and Orange Grove Boulevard off-ramp. Both will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Tuesday night into Wednesday will see the same westbound closures. Eastbound closures will continue for the San Rafael Avenue on-ramp and Orange Grove Boulevard off-ramp.
Caltrans said the work involves removing old striping and applying new tape striping. Crews will also install red reflective markers and signs at off-ramps. The additions are designed to prevent wrong-way drivers at various locations across Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
Residents and businesses near the freeway should expect noise, vibrations and grinding from construction activities. The schedule depends on weather conditions. All dates and times may change.
Caltrans will post detour signs during the closures. The agency advises motorists to expect delays and use alternate routes when possible.
The $1.2 million project is scheduled for completion in summer 2025.
