“Batten down the hatches!!!! #SoCal will not only get some heavy rain, but some very strong southeast winds through Tuesday,” the Pasadena Fire Department said Saturday on X, formerly known as Twitter.

A powerful storm is set to hit Southern California, bringing with it heavy rain and strong winds, according to the National Weather Service’s latest update early Sunday.

Pasadena is expected to be raked by wind gusts up to 40 mph Sunday and less intense gusts on Monday. Combined with heavy rainfall, some officials are concerned about branches falling and entire trees collapsing.

Power outages may also occur as tree limbs could be blown down. The department has issued precautionary and preparedness actions in light of these conditions.

Residents are being advised to avoid being outside near large trees and power lines, if possible, and to remain indoors and away from windows. Additionally, residents are advised not to park cars under trees.

The storm, expected to last through Tuesday morning, will also bring showers throughout the week.
