A new storm system is expected to bring widespread rain to Pasadena beginning Thursday night and continuing into Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Possible scattered showers Tuesday and a brief break Wednesday will precede the next round of precipitation.
Tuesday’s conditions included mostly sunny skies with highs near 57 degrees and light southeast winds. Forecasters noted a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day, with rainfall amounts generally light.
Wednesday will see a slight chance of showers after mid-morning, with highs near 58 degrees and calm winds. Wednesday night is expected to be partly cloudy with lows around 43.
The most significant rainfall is forecast Thursday night, with a 70 percent chance of showers after 10:00 p.m. Rainfall totals are projected between 0.5 and 1 inch, with higher amounts in foothill and mountain areas.
Friday will remain mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and highs near 58. Showers may linger into Friday night before conditions begin to clear.
The weekend outlook is favorable, with mostly sunny skies Saturday and highs near 62. Sunday and Monday are expected to be sunny with highs near 66.
Forecasters cautioned that saturated soils from recent storms could increase the risk of minor flooding, rockslides, or mudslides in hillside areas, though no flood watches are currently planned.
The extended forecast calls for drier and warmer conditions through Thanksgiving week, with highs in the mid-60s and clear skies.
