A 17-year-old Pasadena teen suffered a severe leg injury Monday evening while he was helping set up a seasonal pumpkin patch and fell from a forklift that ran over him, Pasadena Police Lieutenant Anthony Russo said.

Russo said officers responded at 8:18 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28 to the 900 block of North Lake Avenue after receiving a call of “trouble unknown.”

Officers found the teen with heavy bleeding from his right leg after the forklift rolled over it.

Recognizing the severity of the injury, officers immediately applied a tourniquet to control blood loss, Russo said.

Pasadena Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition as of late Monday, according to Russo.

Russo said the teen and a coworker were working to set up the pumpkin patch in a parking lot when the accident occurred.

It was unclear whether the victim had permission to operate the forklift. Russo said juveniles are not legally allowed to drive such equipment.

Russo said no other injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released information about the coworker involved.
