A 15-year-old boy was chased, knocked to the ground and robbed of a gold chain necklace by four suspects outside a school in Pasadena on Friday afternoon, Pasadena Police Lt. Anthony Russo said.
The robbery occurred at approximately 3:07 p.m. in the 1700 block of Loma Vista Street, according to Russo. The juvenile victim from La Puente was waiting to be picked up by his parents following school dismissal when a dark-colored sedan pulled up to the location, Russo said. Four suspects got out of the vehicle and approached the teen.
Fearing for his safety, the victim fled on foot, but the suspects chased after him, Russo said. One suspect tripped the victim, causing him to fall to the ground. All four suspects then struck and kicked him while he was down, Russo said.
During the assault, one of the suspects removed a gold chain necklace from the victim’s neck, according to Russo. The suspects then returned to their vehicle and fled northbound from the scene.
The victim suffered minor injuries in the attack, Russo said. The Pasadena Fire Department responded to the scene, but the victim declined medical treatment. The necklace was valued at approximately $1,000, Russo said.
The suspects were described as four Hispanic men wearing hoodies and face masks, according to Russo. Their vehicle was described only as a dark-colored sedan.
Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspects, Russo said. No further details were immediately available.
