
Three men were arrested Tuesday evening after Pasadena police officers discovered an unloaded handgun during a vehicle search near Walnut Street and Marengo Avenue, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Domino Scott-Jackson.
The incident occurred around 6:13 p.m. as officers were providing extra service in the area and saw four people who appearing to be smoking marijuana across the street from a park, Scott-Jackson said.
As officers approached, two of the subjects got into a parked vehicle. A consent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun behind the driver’s seat, Scott-Jackson said.
Two individuals were arrested on weapons violations. A third suspect was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant, though Scott-Jackson said.
The fourth person was released without arrest.
No drugs were found, and no injuries were reported, Scott-Jackson confirmed.
The suspects were identified as Tiyon Martin, 26, of Altadena; Shane Andrews, 25, also of Altadena; and Essien Frank, 30, a Pasadena resident. All three were listed as being in custody, though the specific charges for each were not detailed in the report, Scott-Jackson said.
