A dangerous heat wave is set to grip Pasadena beginning Friday, with temperatures forecast to reach near 100 degrees and remain high through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters said the heat will peak Friday and Saturday, with highs around 100 degrees both days. Overnight lows will stay in the upper 60s, offering little relief. The agency warned that the combination of daytime heat and warm nights could pose health risks, especially for residents without air conditioning.
On Thursday, skies will clear by midday with highs near 97 degrees. Winds will be light, shifting southwest at about 5 mph in the afternoon. Tonight will be mostly clear, with lows around 64 degrees.
Friday will bring sunny skies and a high near 100 degrees. Winds will remain light, becoming southwest in the afternoon. Friday night will stay warm, with lows near 67 degrees. Saturday will mirror Friday, with sunny skies and highs near 100 degrees.
The heat wave will begin to ease Sunday, though highs will still reach 97 degrees. Temperatures will remain above normal into next week, with highs in the mid-90s through Wednesday. Overnight lows will stay in the mid-to-upper 60s.
The National Weather Service cautioned that the prolonged heat could break daily records and urged residents to take precautions. Vulnerable populations, including the elderly and young children, are at higher risk. Officials advised limiting outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours and checking on neighbors without cooling systems.
No rain is expected during the forecast period. Winds will remain light and variable, providing little relief from the heat.
