
Los Angeles County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 5.7% in September, the most recent quarterly reporting period, the same rate as August, according to figures released Friday by the state Employment Development Department.
The 5.7% rate was down from 6.1% in September 2024.
Statewide, California’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.6% in September, up from 5.5% in August, and from 5.5% in September 2024. The comparable estimates for the nation were 4.4% in September, 4.3% in August, and 4.1% a year ago.
Total non-farm employment in Los Angeles County increased by 5,900 jobs between August and September to reach nearly 4.6 million.
The government sector led the way by adding 11,400 jobs.
