On Sunday, the United Democratic Headquarters, a coalition of Democratic clubs and grassroots organizations, opened a campaign office in Pasadena to support Democratic candidates in the 2024 elections. The office, located at 400 South Lake Avenue, will serve as a hub for volunteers working to elect the Harris/Walz presidential ticket and other Democratic candidates.
Staff and volunteers at the headquarters are focusing their efforts on phone banking, writing postcards, and canvassing for various campaigns. These include support for reelectionist U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu, as well as State Assembly candidate John Harabedian and State Senate candidate Sasha Renee Perez.
The organization is also working to flip control of the House of Representatives from Republican to Democratic hands. To achieve this goal, they are campaigning for Congressional candidates throughout California and supporting Democratic Senate candidates in Nevada and Arizona.
Since opening earlier this month, the headquarters has already made significant progress in its outreach efforts. The office has sent 25,000 postcards, recruited 300 new volunteers, and participated in national text banks that have sent 2 million texts. Additionally, volunteers have been making phone calls into Nevada and other swing states.
The campaign office serves as a distribution point for Harris/Walz campaign merchandise, including t-shirts, caps, tote bags, and lawn signs. These items are intended to help spread awareness and support for the Democratic ticket throughout the community.
A “Get the Vote Out” Rally for the Harris/Walz campaign will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31, as the new headquarters formally opens. The event will feature speeches by prominent Democratic figures, including Congresswoman Chu, Mark Ramos, Chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, and candidates Perez and Harabedian.
The United Democratic Headquarters has a long history of grassroots organizing in the Pasadena area. For three decades, the coalition has worked to elect Democrats to various offices, including the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives, and California state positions.
