Warm Tuesday Gives Way to Cooling Trend as Morning Fog Returns to Pasadena

Published on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 | 6:40 am

National Weather Service forecasters are predicting a significant cooling trend for Pasadena in the coming days, with today’s high of 85 degrees dropping to more seasonal temperatures in the low 70s by mid-week and beyond.

Pasadena residents can expect sunny skies throughout Tuesday with temperatures climbing to a summer-like high near 85 degrees. Northeast winds around 5 mph will shift to south-southwest in the afternoon, providing a slight breeze to an otherwise hot day.

The warm conditions won’t last long. Tonight will bring patchy fog after 11 pm along with increasing clouds and a low around 53 degrees. By Wednesday, morning fog will give way to gradual clearing with a significantly cooler high near 74 degrees—an 11-degree drop from today’s peak. Southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph will develop Wednesday afternoon.

The forecast shows a distinct cooling pattern throughout the week. After today’s high of 85, temperatures will fall each day—to 74 on Wednesday, 71 on Thursday, and 70 on Friday. Overnight lows will also trend cooler, dropping from 53 tonight to 49 by Thursday night and 47 by Friday night, bringing the first sub-50 degree temperatures of the forecast period.

The forecast remains predominantly dry until the weekend. Sunday brings the first chance of precipitation with a slight chance of rain during both daytime and nighttime hours. The system appears weak, with forecasters only mentioning a “slight chance” while temperatures remain near 69 degrees.

Weekend plans? Saturday looks to be the better outdoor day with mostly sunny skies and a high near 71. By Sunday, a weather system moves in bringing partly sunny skies, a high near 69, and that slight chance of rain that continues into Sunday night when temperatures will drop to around 51 degrees.

The daily fog pattern developing across Pasadena this week will be most noticeable for early morning commuters, with patchy fog expected before 11 am Wednesday through Friday. Residents in foothill neighborhoods may experience clearer conditions as the fog typically affects lower elevations more significantly.
