My name is Mike Chiasson, and I am a 25-year Pasadena employee currently serving as the President of the Pasadena Management Association.

After reading today’s “Political Gumbo: Advice on the City Manager Search,” I would like to share the message I recently sent to leadership regarding this matter.

I am writing to respectfully encourage the selection of the next City Manager to be promoted from within the City of Pasadena. During these challenging times — when uncertainty seems to grow day by day — choosing a leader from within would send a strong and positive message to employees across the organization.

Promoting from within recognizes the dedication, institutional knowledge and commitment of the City’s workforce. It also helps maintain continuity, preserves the Pasadena culture and values, and reinforces confidence and stability when it is needed most.

Best regards,

Mike Chiasson
