Pasadena City Clerk Mark Jomsky will join a public conversation on Zoom on Wednesday, May 20, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., in a session hosted by the National Women’s Political Caucus – Greater Pasadena Area.
The one-hour session is scheduled 13 days before Pasadena’s Primary Municipal Election on June 2, when voters in City Council Districts 3, 5 and 7 will decide who represents them on the Council — an election administered by Jomsky’s office.
NWPC-GPA describes the conversation as highlighting Jomsky’s “leadership in overseeing city records, elections, and the vital role the City Clerk’s Office plays in supporting effective local government while ensuring the integrity of Pasadena’s democratic processes,” according to the event invitation. The caucus also said the session would touch on civic engagement, local leadership and transparent government operations. Jomsky’s own remarks at the event have not been published in advance.
Jomsky has served as Pasadena’s City Clerk since July 2008, according to the City of Pasadena. His office prepares City Council agendas and minutes, maintains the city’s official records, administers campaign finance and economic interest filings, and administers local elections for the City Council and the Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education. The office also administers the Pasadena Municipal Code, including the City Charter.
The caucus describes itself as a multi-partisan grassroots organization covering Pasadena, Altadena, Glendale, Sierra Madre and La Cañada that recruits, trains and supports pro-choice women candidates for elected and appointed office at all levels of government. The organization’s website lists Kristine Lowe as vice chair; the event invitation lists her contact email as the point of inquiry.
The event announcement does not list a fee for the Zoom session. Attendees can join using Meeting ID 853 0694 2377. Questions about the event can be directed to chair@nwpcgpa.org.
Pasadena’s June 2 primary covers Council seats in Districts 3, 5 and 7. The candidate filing period opened on February 9, according to the City of Pasadena. The Office of the City Clerk administers the election in coordination with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.
