Working Through Her 100 Day Plan, PUSD Interim Superintendent to Convene Town Hall

Pasadena Unified School District Interim Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Blanco announced she will convene a community town hall meeting on Thursday, Oct. 5, starting at 6 p.m. at the Western Justice Center, at 55 S. Grand Ave. in Pasadena.

PUSD said the meeting will discuss the district’s strategic plan and address other “important issues” for the school district.

The meeting comes 65 days after Dr. Blanco officially announced her first 100 Day Plan on August 3. It is likely Dr. Blanco will provide updates on the progress of the plan and outline the district’s efforts to address pressing concerns.

Speaking about the plan early in August, Dr. Blanco said one of her main goals as Interim Superintendent was to streamline the district’s operations and services so that they can better meet the needs and expectations of schools, students, and employees.

“Putting the Strategic Plan into operation is an opportunity to move our students, employees and families to a culture of ‘with’ that elevates their voices and makes our district more responsive to their needs,” she said. “This has been a team effort at every step along the way.”

Dr. Blanco’s 100-day Plan consists of five pillars aimed at enhancing education and supporting student success:

Pillar 1 focuses on learner-focused instruction, ensuring that teaching methods are tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners and prepare them for future endeavors.

Pillar 2 emphasizes the importance of creating an environment where employees are supported, culturally competent, and able to excel in their roles.

Pillar 3 centers around data analysis and evaluation to identify areas for improvement.

Pillar 4 highlights the need for an effective and accountable organization, where systems and processes promote transparency and efficiency.

Lastly, Pillar 5 advocates for purposeful collaboration with families and communities to build trust and strengthen support systems for students.

PUSD said by implementing these pillars, it aims to create a comprehensive and effective education system.

Thursday’s town hall meeting will give community members the opportunity to engage in discussions, ask questions, and share their thoughts and concerns with Dr. Blanco and other district officials.

Childcare for school-age children will be available, and Spanish translation services will also be provided.
