Young Philanthropist Raises Funds for Local Food Pantry

In a heartening display of community spirit, Audrey, an upcoming 5th grader at The Gooden School raised $100.20 for the Friends In Deed Food Pantry through a lemonade and cookie sale. The young philanthropist’s efforts were part of a year-long program between her school and the local nonprofit organization.

Friends In Deed operates several programs to assist homeless and at-risk individuals in Pasadena. Their Food Pantry distributes food to households in need. As a 4th grader, Audrey visited Friends In Deed specifically to help in the Food Pantry as part of her school’s program.

Audrey’s fundraising initiative aligns with The Gooden School’s motto, “Respect for Self, Respect for Others, and Respect for the World,” which emphasizes community engagement and service-learning. The school’s partnership with Friends In Deed provides students with hands-on volunteer experiences at the Food Pantry.
