Pasadena Ranked #1

The secret Pasadenans have always known is out — Pasadena is a great place to live. So much so, the city has been named one of the Top 100 Best Places to Live in Livability’s 2018 ranking.

Pasadena beat more than 2,100 cities (with populations between 20,000 and 350,000), in terms of issues related to walkability, cultural amenities, transportation, urban planning, and sustainability.

Pasadena came in at #72 on Livability’s annual list. The city gets high marks for education (largely due to Caltech), the medical needs of residents, its stance on green initiatives and its cultural landscape—the city has 16 museums, 11 performing arts halls, and more than 500 restaurants.

These, combined with a citywide emphasis on walkability, and other quality of life assets including a temperate climate, historic architecture, and Craftsman-style buildings, placed Pasadena firmly on the Top 100 list.

Additional Southern California cities—including Santa Monica and Santa Barbara—also made the Top 100 list.

Winona Dimeo-Ediger, Livability.com’s managing editor, applauds the choices.

“The 2018 Best Place to Live list includes a fascinating mix of familiar cities and first-timers that are starting to carve out a reputation as wonderful places to live It’s great to see these under-the-radar cities getting more attention on a national scale — and the accolades are certainly well-deserved.”
